The Language Workshop for Children
The Language Workshop For Children is the country’s leader in children's language educational play. It was developed by François Thibaut in 1973 as an enriched play method to teach foreign languages to babies, toddlers and children. His recognized Thibaut Technique® combines original music, vocabulary-building songs, language immersion, attractive visual aids, movement and games to make learning both effective and fun for children. As Mr. Thibaut says, “Children remember the words that make them happy.”
To the untrained eye Language Workshop For Children classes resemble simple playgroups. The difference is its Thibaut Technique®, a whole language approach employing both sides of the brain. The left brain governs grammar, vocabulary and meaning while the right processes emotion and voice melody. Songs reinforce grammatical patterns, visual aids symbolize vocabulary, and games carry emotion; all vital factors when teaching children to speak another language. His method combines carefully structured curriculum and a child's innate love of play. Language Workshop For Children structured playgroups let parents capture the critical period of learning when children possess their greatest capacity to absorb and retain language. Children's minds are engaged in animated classes that systematically use original LWFC songs, games, time-tested visual aids, and much more. Classes are limited in size, so each child can be nurtured and encouraged.
François Thibaut works with professional composers to develop the award-winning vocabulary-building songs produced by The Language Workshop®. These happy songs allow a child to learn a language's distinct sounds and grammar, teach relevant vocabulary, and give kids an easy way to practice their new language. In each new session every student receives a fresh song CD tucked into a colorful, professionally illustrated and printed Songs and More™ workbook to take home to practice. The LWFC's Songs and More series is available exclusively through the Language Workshop For Children’s Thibaut Technique® classes. Since the melodies and the words change every session, students constantly acquire and build upon their inventory of language skills. In Thibaut Technique® classes, kids learn naturally, not by translating. First they hear, then they understand, and finally they speak.
The Language Workshop For Children teachers are native-fluent and selected for the skill with which they speak their language and their enthusiasm with children. Each teacher is trained in New York to use the acclaimed Thibaut Technique®. Every teacher is personally supervised by François Thibaut, the Language Workshop For Children’s Director and Anne-Marie Raboud, Head Teacher of the Language Workshop and Curriculum specialist to maintain the quality of the Language Workshop For Children’s classes.
